Fragrance
I think fragrance is one of the most underrated senses, it can remind you of a place and time, it can comfort, give you confidence and even disgust you. Much like music it can change your mood and thought, i love these kind of experiences, like art, scent forces you to react, good or bad, there can be complexity or simplicity.
I have a growing collection of fragrances but the one that started everything was ‘Jack Eau De Parfum’, one of my favourites It combines lime, marijuana, mandarin, clove, pepper, nutmeg, oud, vetiver, white musk, tobacco absolute, and olibanum resin.
The marijuana note is subtle, if detectable at all which is not a bad thing, i have yet smelt a fragrance with a marijuana note that works, they are usually a mess.
Technically this is a ‘celebrity’ fragrance, the brand is by the actor Richard E Grant, but this is clearly someone with a passion for it and not some generic sponsorship cashing in on a name.
The Lime and mandarin cut through to give a fresh cocktail hint but there is a classic hint of masculine barbershop, it gives it an edge that really cuts through the projection.
I fear it might have been slightly reformulated as the original to my nose, lasted longer and had more projection.
I would love to share more of my collection and thoughts on fragrance, hopefully i can find more of you to share with!
